Possession of Child Pornography
The mere possession of child pornography can expose a person to federal prosecution. Occasionally possession can be established with something as simple as surfing the internet, although usually it takes more than simply bouncing from site to site. More times than not the person charged has created files to store his files, and this is where the federal agents catch the majority of the people charged. Federal law prohibits both the possession and distribution of internet child pornography. Although many child pornography cases involve the seizure of thousands of images and videos depicting children explicitly situated, it is possible to be prosecuted for a very small quantity.
